VARGAS,Jr.,Raymond
Honoring & Remembering Maryland Fallen Heroes
March 27,2025
Ray Vargas was 30 years old when he joined the ranks of the BCoFD in September of 2013 as a Firefighter/EMT.
During his career he was assigned to various fire stations on Baltimore County’s east side, where he quickly earned a solid reputation as a dedicated public servant, skilled Firefighter/ EMT, dependable colleague, mentor & leader, and it is also where he earned his promotion to Fire Lieutenant.
Tragically, in the early spring of 2025, Lieutenant Vargas was diagnosed with an aggressive occupational cancer……acute myeloid leukemia…and passed away just 4 weeks later, on March 27, 2025.
As stated by BCoFD Chief Joseph Dixon (paraphrasing)“Ray’s legacy of service, strength, & dedication will always inspire us.”
Ray was a devoted father, husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend, who is dearly missed by his family & friends.
Lieutenant Raymond Vargas ,Jr. was 42 years old & had served the citizens of Baltimore County for 12 years.
